Sunday at Symphony Hall

On Sunday at 3pm, we went to Boston to attend the French National Orchestra at Symphony hall. They played a Debussy piece first followed by a Mozart piano concerto. Then they played a Tchaikovsky piece which was my favorite. I had a good time in Boston and enjoyed the concert.

Snow to Melt

We had a windy snowstorm on Saturday night with 4 inches of snow on Sunday. It got to about 35F on Sunday afternoon which very was gross and slushy. On Monday, it was about 40F with a lot of melt happening. It was 50 yesterday with tons of melt and our yard which is now a swimming pool.....

Levi and the piano

Levi has really been enjoying playing the piano lately and he has been getting on our nerves!

Snow!!!

We got our first snow yesterday with temperatures in the 20s and wind. We played outside out a lot and had a great time sledding at Mt. Hood golf course. It was very windy there but still had the best time. We went over the bumps down the hill and flew in the air and wiped out when we landed. We were very glad to finally have our first snow!

MLK Day

We celebrated MLK day this weekend and got a day out of school too! We went to a church in Melrose to get jobs around town to help our community be a better place. We went to a temple not too far from where we were and help pack cleaning kits. It wasn't very well organized so we went to a nursing home which was one of the other jobs around town. There was nobody there helping out there but we spent some time with the people there and I even got to play their piano! We left soon and went back home. That night we went to a church to celebrate MLK and listen to Audrey (one of Lina's friends) read an essay about MLK. It was a very fun day with helping our community be a better place.

Melrose Inauguration

On Monday January 11, 2016 we got in in the car at 7pm and headed to Memorial Hall for the Melrose Inauguration. I was going to play Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum for the musical selection. I felt excited but I was still a little nervous. When we got there, I saw people going in the building so I thought a lot of people were going to be at the inauguration. We sat down in our reserved seat and I looked at the program. The inauguration started at 7:30 pm and the high school band performed some really great music. After that we did the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance. Then it was time for a speech by Governor Baker. His speech was funny and I really liked it. Then there was an Oath for alderman and school committee. Then there were a few more speeches while I walked up backstage. I suddenly became very nervous. Once they introduced me and I started playing I wasn't nervous anymore. I finished my piece with a standing ovation!! After that there was an Oath for the mayor and then it was time to go home. What a great night!

Lina's lost tooth

Lina lost her third tooth this afternoon after a few days of anxiety of losing it. Dad went in the bathroom with her because she wanted him to pull it out. She came running up to me and Levi and shouted "I Lost A Tooth!" I looked in the towel she was holding the tooth in there it was. For the second time this week, the tooth fairy will come to the house.......

First Cold Draft

After many days of temperatures in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, it was finally time for colder temperatures. The high temperature yesterday was only in the mid 20s with a feels like temperature in the teens. By bedtime last night, the temperatures were already 15 or 16. When I got up at 6am this morning and looked at the weather, the temperature was only 7 and the high today was only 21 or 22. We are forecasting 50s here on Sunday, but plenty of cold temperatures ahead too!

My 7th lost Tooth

I lost my 7th tooth just an hour ago.
It was easy to pull out because it was barely attached to the gum. I went in the bathroom and told mom I would not be out until my tooth was gone. In 15 seconds, I was holding my tooth in a piece of toilet paper. I hope Lina loses her tooth to today, then the tooth fairy would come for 2 people tonight!

2016 Calendars

Yesterday, Mom and I went to Barnes and Noble to get calendars thanks to Uncle Tate and Aunt Emily's gift cards.
I got myself a calendar with 12 different islands around the world which I really liked.
Levi asked for a Star Wars calendar which we didn't find, but we got him a guitar calendar which he really liked.
For the kitchen, we got a Charlie Harper calendar which we really liked in 2015.
For dad, we got a birds calendar for work in his office.
For the bathroom, we got a calendar with holidays and celebrations around the world.
I also got myself a sudoku page a day calendar to put on my desk.
We love our calendars, and we will like them later this year.

Happy New Year!!

On Friday January 1 2016,we got up in the morning and had a light breakfast of bagels and fruit to get ready for the Hangover Classic 10k in Salisbury, MA. I practiced piano so we could leave around 10.
When we got there, we got our race packets with numbers and shirts and did our warm-ups. The temperature was perfect, about 38 and it was very nice out.
The race started at 11:30 and I promised to stay with mom the whole time of the race to be her pacer. There were a lot of turns in the race but it was very well organized. It was an out and back course so we recognized a lot on the way back to the finish.
Mom's goal was 48:30 and I finished with time of 47:52 with a pace of 7:44. Mom was not far behind and finished with a time of 48:12.
Now it was time for the hard part-jumping into a 47 degree ocean. I ran into the water. When I saw mom go under, I dunked under too. IT WAS FREEZING!!!!!!!! I ran out of the water and went straight to get in my towel and change into warm clothes.
We went to one of our favorite Mexican restrants, Agave in Newburyport. What a great way to start 2016!
